Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh bugger bugger bugger. (That isn't an order)

Walton AC didn't to badly enough in the Dorking Denbies Surrey Cross Country match to avoid promotion to Division 1. That means next season there will be absolutely no point in me turning up. Someone will shout "go!" and the other 79 guys will disappear into the mud and the woods and I'll wade round either dead last or not scoring. Or dead.

I did my best not to help the club. Managed to score nothing without disgracing myself, but obviously it was too much and we got promoted. :-(

I am sure Rob is faster than me now, and from here on in. I am an old man now. And I am equally sure he doesn't score anything for Ranelagh. We only turn up to make it a decent social occasion. :-) Unless maybe it is the first 25 in each team that score in Div 1.

Our league is first 6 A, second 6 B and everyone else no scores BUT remember you can knock other teams further down if their counters are behind you.

I believe the highest I finished this year is 14th for club and 165th overall, which was last race. Bit annoying that my best race was the one where I had a cold. Hopefully means form is improving at the right time. Next year winter needs to start before winter like it did in the 11/12 season.

Currently have a head cold (so couldn't do Southerns) but am getting over it so haven't had any time off as of recently. However, I did have to take two weeks off from flu, a chest cold and the norovirus one after another (I have a low white blood cell count so can pick up colds and infections easily without getting rid of them quickly).

Back training in Devon all of last week; a big 1200m daily climb back to our lodge and 7 20 min. circuit sessions over the week helped build up a lot of mental toughness and strength with endurance. I've certainly came back stronger and have now had 3 weeks of solid training preparing for the March races.

Coach has set the aim of a sub 17 5k and a top 25 finish in the Inter counties so I'm going to make these last weeks pay for a good end to the season. However, the lack of training recently can compensate a little for a slower performance.

I noticed the field from the Southern's were down significantly yesterday from usual across all ages. But did anyone here do it? :)

oi you
Hi Callum, yup I did Southerns yesterday. You missed a fine day out. The ground was pretty soft all the way round really and some of it was very tricky - plenty of people were falling. I managed to stay upright and finished in 1:22:51, 483rd of 541 finishers.

A quick look at last years race at Brighton listed 745 finishers - so well down as you say.
