Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks all. In addition to the 5k in a few weeks' time, I'll be making the Manchester Half in October a target race and trying out a P&D training plan. It looks like it suggests a 10km race two weeks before the main event, so will be interesting to see if there's any improvement between now and then.

My Harrogate 10k was not a near miss, well over 41 mins. In my defence it's a moderately hilly course with some trail, I was still 3rd in my age cat.

Might have a go at Lancaster early Aug, did 39ish last year.

I started this thread many years ago and then dropped off the running cliff. I don't think I can get back to a sub-40 goal but I'd love to beat my old PB of 42:10....so I need to drop 1:40 off my recent time..... advice?

I think I might have to return to a club and get some decent speed stuff in

Welcome back Homer.

Lots will have different views but mine would be few more miles per week and one session of intervals e.g. 8 x 3mins, 6 x 1mile, 15 x 2 mins.

The other option is join a club! The otjer option is to follow one of the plans. I added this to the site a while ago (may be a bit heavy on the miles from where you are at but you could adapt) I am pretty sure if you followed it you would have a great chance of beating your PB.

I just now need to follow my own advice :)
