Thanks all. I've a few 10ks planned for the summer / autumn as I'd like to knock some time off that PB too, so hopefully by October I'll be in a position to say I was in X 10km form, which helped with Y half marathon.
In any event, it'll be lots of easy miles with 2 x speed sessions a week!

Found this from 2015.
1:24:08 and three weeks later 38:49 both of which were PBs. I then PBd at marathon three more weeks on in 3:00:57.
I have always considered HM my best distance. I seem to be able to hit and hold that pace, whereas at 10k I don’t have enough proper pace to be faster. And at marathon I often ran out of steam (probably as I started too fast)

That's a very impressive conversion - if I could only have a 9 sec per mile difference between 10km and HM I'd be flying!
I've only raced two HMs properly so it'll be interesting to see how much it hurts overall. I've got in mind what I hope is a relatively conservative pace to start with, and I'll lie to myself that if it feels OK after 7 miles to try and slowly speed it up a bit.

5:52 5k 6:07 10k 6:26 10m 6:36 HM
It rankles with me that my 10k pace is arguably my best, as I hate 10k races!
But I've always raced 10ks as part of a marathon build up which is usually when I'm quickest and fittest.

This season I turned in a 38 10k on a flat fast course and then 1:24 on a moderately hilly half. I'd say 1:25 doesn't need anything better than 39.
One obvious benchmark is to look at the wava tables for your age. For me (54), 1:25:13 equates to 38:55 (both being 79% WAVA).

If I list my paces out like that, I'd like my 5km one to be the one that I extrapolate from and all the others to be ripe for improvement!
5km - 5:48 10km - 6:28 10 mile - 6:41 (only ran one)
HM - 6:40

That's an impressive range. Your 5k is faster than mine but I've run marathons significantly quicker than your 10k
though looking at your profile, that looks wrong to me - 40 min 10k is 6:26 isn't it?

I need an edit function - should be 6:18 for the 10km!
The 5km is the outlier as it was on a net downhill course. On other races I've barely come within 30 seconds of it.

You triggered me to have a look at my pace range (surprisingly never looked before)
5.33 3k 5.38 5k 5.53/4 10k 6.04 10m 6.10 half
I should add these are from years ago and I'm not in any sort of shape to replicate these nowadays.

allmatthew - So your 5k to 10k conversion is way out IMO!
I have always worked on the basis of double the distance add 15 secs per mile from 5k to HM.
I had something like.....
5k - 5:45 10k - 6:00 10M - 6:21 Half - 6:32 (which I think shows my lack of mileage/not as good as longer races)
Anyway, thats all in the past for me, add at least a min per mile for today
