Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm certainly glad that my attempt just over a year ago where I got greedy didn't end up with me missing sub 80 as it was pretty close in the end after being something was looking like smashing through 11 miles in.

It could be argued that 1:20:00 is hitting a level of precision that reflects a higher achievement than, say, 1:19:57

(No offence to anyone with a 1:19:57 pb intended).

Ace, thanks.

Isn't the modern secret to get better performance enhancing footwear?

I probably still had hopes of getting close to 1.20 5 years ago. Now 1.30 looks like a far off ambition, no matter the footwear.

To be fair, the footwear gains haven't really progressed since nike released AF1 in 2020 in my view. So buying the next training release is a time gone by now and improvement is running made.

I'd probably have done it if I'd had my Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris shoes then. I'd certainly have done it if I'd tied my shoelaces properly before the start, though! 😄

I'm still going to chuck funds at new trainers for this I guess, but the bulk of my available shoe gains came in the shift from DS Trainer to Kiprun carbon jobbies then to Magic Speed & Metaspeed Edge.

I'm still not in supershoes so could get a boost there if age doesn't catch up first.
