I did Cambridge too, what did you think of the goody bag? Weirdest collection of things I've had in a goody bag before.

Yes, but very Cambridge, in its own way! One year when I did the Dublin Marathon, Hellmans was a sponsor and we all got some mayonnaise in the goody bag. :)

How did you get on? I recall you ran a blinder there last year.

Its safe to say it went well J2R. I had a great run last year and somehow managed to knock 4 minutes off last years time on Sunday. 1.15.11 (Although official time is showing as 1.15.16).

If it hadn't have been for the wind going up the hill in the last mile I'd have been close to going under 1.15 :(

Yes, the headwind on the bloody flyover did it for me as well! Most unwelcome at that point. Something else which didn't help me was a sign saying 500 metres to go. I looked at my watch, saw I had 70 seconds to do 500 metres and realised it wasn't possible, so maybe just sagged a little. In reality it was probably 400 metres, and had I gone full-on sprint at that point I'd have done it.

Ah, well! Next time. I have another HM coming up mid next month (Norwich) where I'm going to have another go, although it is a much slower course and I reckon I'd need to be able to do well under 1:19 at Cambridge to be able to do sub-1:20 at Norwich. Probably have to wait to the autumn. At least I know I can actually run 1:19:34 (I lost 26 seconds over the laces), so that gives me a little more confidence, at a time when concerns about age-related slowing are beginning to grow (I'll be 59 in the summer).

At that age if I was running that fast I'd be plotting my V60 year of glory :-)
