Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

BTW I just had a nose and your 5k time is way faster than mine. You are definitely on track!

The wind was horrible yesterday at Cambourne, Ceratonia. You shouldn't beat yourself up about that. The sticky mud up from 4k to 5k was nasty as well. Try the Bushy 10k in July. It's a quickish one.

Ceratonia, my one and only sub-50 (48:39)was followed by my 5K PB as well (both on flat courses in good conditions). I notice your 5K PB is a bit faster than mine. Both were just after a 1:55:47 HM and you were just outside that last month. So I expect to see that sub-50 from you soon :-)

Can I ask why you didn't bag a 10K last year after that parkrun? (Maybe also head back to parkrun and blast round that again?)

(I keep on eye on this thread as I hope one day I might claw back to sub-50.)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Did 23:xx half a dozen or so times at Cambridge Parkrun over the space a couple of months last spring - and then marshalled at both the Cambourne 10k and my local (Chillford) 10k rather than running. Guess I didn't see any great rush to convert the 5k form to 10k performance. Recent parkrun times since xmas are around the 24 minute mark, but it's been pretty muddy & slippy at Milton and I haven't really gone all out for a while. My relatively poor conversion of 5k times to 10k and half-marathon suggests I probably need to work more on the base training, slow miles.

Incidentally, my 12yr old son was not impressed that I got a medal for finishing in 300odd th place yesterday. He was off running for Cambridge & Coleridge in a league fixture on the track, got 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 3 sprint events, couple of PBs and only a few "well dones" to show for it :-)

Track queens suffer their own personal hell, even young ones. ;-) Tell him to get off the track and do some proper running.

Ha, I'm glad he switched to doing track running. I liked doing parkrun with him, but it's also nice not to finish several minutes behind someone who most weeks seemed to stop halfway round to fasten his shoelaces or to take his coat off :-)

Call it 49:69. See if it makes you feel better. ;-)

Give it a couple of weeks and then find another 10k. You'll break 50 next time out.
