Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

BTW, Scribbler, just peeked and your 5k time is better than mine so I reckon you've got it in the bag for your next race.

Thanks, but it's been over a year since I ran my 5k PB and I'm struggling to get under 26 mins now. But that's because I've only been running short distances. Good to hear you got your sub 50 training for a longer race. I'm thinking that's what I have to do to get in shape for another attempt. Just not sure when that will be.

Just a few seconds over 50 minutes for the first 10k of my half-marathon this morning (the 11.1k that followed wasn't quite as fast though..) so I'm feeling pretty confident about going some way under 50 minutes in my next 10k in 4 weeks time. Few extra km per week for a few months and a couple less kg to carry round seems to add up to reasonable improvements.

Firmly into the sub-50 for me, was a few seconds over 48 minutes at my 10k yesterday. More than 5 minutes faster than I managed in my previous two outings and three and a half minutes faster than previous PB.

Great work Ceratonia :-) Goes with my theory that training for and then running a really good HM in a great way to improve your 10K.

Think you're almost certainly right, Dvorak.

Having said that, my 1:56 in the Cambridge HM earlier in the year was followed by two 10ks that were several minutes away from a PB. My not all that much faster 1:51 at Grunty Fen HM has been followed by a parkrun PB and a 10k PB in rapid succession. But, yes, in essence, just a steady diet of months of mostly easy running, avoiding injury and upping the mileage slowly has worked well for me.

Looks like you pretty much already nailed it in your last two training runs, OrangeFleece? Just need a repeat performance in your next race?
