LOL - I have a 10K in July I think I'm going to have to race it, don't get the chance to do them that often. I will be lurking here for a bit of inspiration

Weekatiepea, that's exactly what I did last year. I got 50:10, then I got 49:29 in my next race. Try not to be gutted but look at it as a positive. Being 10 secs out shows you that you can do it & gives you confidence for your next race. Believe in yourself & you can do it! promise My words of wisdom (for what they're worth), is just that you have to believe you can do it. In all my best races, I just trained specifically for a specific time & distance & then just did not entertain the fact that I wouldn't achieve it. If I have any doubts going into any races, I just give myself a reason to take the foot off the pedal during the race! Positive Mental Attitude & lots of it! Good luck everyone

Hmmm... "Being 10 secs out shows you that you can do it." Is this a recursive function?

Lol Rich, I love that thought
Thanks for the top tips Lisa. Actually I am delighted with my time because I didn't think I was anywhere near sub-50 shape, my previous pb being 50.22, two years ago and before my second baby last May. Getting 50.09 last night proved I am stronger than I thought, plus it wasn't a chip timed race so that will knock a few seconds off!

...ive function is one that can be applied to itself. I was one second off my parkrun target today. This shows I can achieve my target. So I should make my target tougher. If a ten second miss shows that the target is achievable then what about a 20 second miss?
