Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What Rich said. You will get sub-50 (and faster) soon. Sub-55 is still a good time, especially on training which was less than ideal through no fault of your own!

Beach 10k in June? You can run with me (if I do it) for the first couple of k, that should hold you back nicely :-P

Aww CS, try not to be upset. The bad races are just as important as the good ones as they help us to learn. Cake for sure is the answer!!! You will get there! :-)

Thanks guys :) having uploaded my race, I see that the 4:25 first km was where I went wrong... thought I was more experienced than to set off far too fast, but hey, we live, we learn :) onwards and upwards!

Was aiming for sub-50 at Woodhall on Sunday, but didn't count on breaking my toe six weeks ago. I am back running, and I'm half a stone lighter than when I did Lincoln back at the end of March (52.17). I don't think I'm on target for sub-50 (did 25.43 without pushing too much at a 5k last week), but might see if I can run the first half around the right pace and see what happens...

Well that worked well - not...

The splits probably speak for themselves:
1) - 1m - 8:09(8:09/m) - 179cal

2) - 1m - 8:08(8:08/m) - 177cal

3) - 1m - 8:33(8:33/m) - 184cal

4) - 1m - 9:21(9:21/m) - 192cal

5) - 1m - 9:06(9:06/m) - 177cal

6) - 1m - 9:36(9:36/m) - 192cal

7) - 0.17m - 1:14(7:22/m) - 33cal

In fairness, the first two miles felt comfortable, but I was just completely undertrained to maintain that pace for any distance. One positive though is I went through 5k just 3 seconds outside the 5k race time I did last week, so there's definitely some more time to come off that!

That's really good for the first half, Zeb. You should rest your legs for the remainder of the week and then cane parkrun on Saturday.
