Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

A strange one this. Did a long slow starting 15 miles at about 8pm. Initially it was fabulous, glorious in the fading light around the countryside. Had the weekend off as took kids to centre parcs, so was rested and running really well - not quick, but smooth, light and energetic and feeling as if I could go quicker and run forever (LOVE that feeling).

It was a very warm humid evening and I only took my hydration belt (about 450mls water) rather than full camelbak (2.5litres) and I think got dehydrated. Started to struggle a bit on the way back and also found myself getting really ratty with passing cars who kept their main beams on even though I was highly visible and they could obviously see me. Obviously a runner on a narrow path does not warrant the effort of flicking a headlight switch to dipped for a couple of hundred yards for some drivers (I thanked the ones who did). It totally blinds you and is disorientating even after they pass as you struggle to get your night vision back.

Time was 2:15:04, 142bpm and 9:03 minute miles.

Slightly concerned that I struggled for the distance, at this time in my 3:30 mara training thjis sort of long slow should be comfortable so will have to concentrate on the edurance base for a bit and also camelbak it on warm days/eves.

Have a 22 miler planned for the weekend, my favourite pleasure run round Thetford Forest mountain bike trails (I do the 'black' route, then the 'red' route with the extra bit - they are graded like ski runs).

Quite good. Very warm 6.64 miles. My right calf has a horrible burning feeling in it though.
