I've stayed at the Wasedale Head Hotel and can thoroughly recommend it , little outdoors shop and the food / drink atmosphere at the hotel is brilliant.

Currently dithering between a cottage in Eskdale and an apartment in the Wasdale Head Inn. Both pretty much the same price for the week. Will go and run whilst thinking - it’s all working as an avoid the Christmas cooking strategy :-)

we were in one of the rooms in the annexe so not in the main building , walking from the front door ........... being able to log in the cute book at reception where you're walking and what your wearing so they know if you're lost up on the fells was also a nice little touch - i'd defo stay there again.

We stayed in one of the Wasdale Head Inn apartments last month, noise carries between the apartments at times, but nothing terrible (I suppose that does depend on the occupants, though!) It hasn't put us off booking to go back in June.

Eskdale's lovely too, and there are some nice walk-ins from there :)

The routes in from Eskdale I find far more enjoyable, and far quieter, than the tourist treks in from Wasdale. Start at Wha farm, up around Slight Side and then back down Mickledore and along the Esk is prob my favourite.
