Ridiculously windy at Big Half & still nursing dodgy hamstring so didn't even attempt the 80% (1:34). I finished in 1:43 which gave me top 8% overall women & top 3% in age category. Even Mo took longer than 60 mins today so feeling bit happier since checking results. Gusting cross winds so strong crossing Tower Bridge I feared I may take a dip in the Thames st one point! Due to the wind they cancelled the after run festival & also removed the flags for the meet up area so finding my other half post run almost as big a challenge ax the run! ![]() |

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Well done surviving the wind Jovi. We had winds like that forecast, but it was not quite so bad, and Inverness is a fairly sheltered course. But the wintry showers and cold temps made it a character building day. I have no idea how someone survives running over 2 1/2 hours on a day like today like the miserable looking people I saw as I walked back to the car. I was in a hot shower at about the 1.33 point in the race. Knowing the showers are a short way from the finish, and the 80 WAVA, were the two thoughts that kept me going late in the race. |

57.5 Degrees of Pain
No one has recorded an 80% WAVA at Fort William parkrun in its first year. It's a tough course but by no means the toughest. I was a long way off challenging that record yesterday! |

I worked out that if i equalled my parkrun pb when aged 66 then i would get exactly 80% WAVA. Last Thursday i turned 66, so today was my first chance. Would i get past the magic 80? If you've got 5 minutes read my blog https://www.fetcheveryone.com/blog-view.php?id=2274. If you haven't, just look at the last couple of paragraphs. |
