Just nudged up my HM WAVA a pip from 81.6 to 81.7. Not by running faster, but by getting older. It all counts though, right?

It certainly counts! I measure progress, or otherwise, in 100ths of a second (0.01) FFS! |

I'm hoping to do some track meetings this summer - our club has recently been more encouraging of seniors to do them. I'll see how I get on. Be interesting to see what I could do in my old event of the 200m - will probably find it too depressing though compared to what I used to be able to do in my youth!

I bet you can still run a decent 2, Jovi! You're a mere baby at 50 something - I hadn't even started sprinting then! (Was still a not-very-good distance runner aiming for 65%)

I suspect I could only manage close on 125m (my PB for 200m is 26XX - can't recall the XX but do recall doing a 26 second & high 12s 100m). I never got close to sub 13 again in 100m. To this day I suspect the reason I dipped the 13s was due to going on the gun which would have been a false start if I hadn't been lucky enough to coincide going with gun being fired. I~n elite athletics on electronic blocks it would deifnitely be a false start

All my 60ms have been with electronic starts. I like the no argument of that! I'm impressed by your spread of speed - 80% at a marathon AND at 5k would be very cool indeed. I see you nabbed a 78% marathon, that's VG in my book! There's a world class sprinter in my W65 age group who scores consistently 100% plus for her 60s and 100s AND ran a 4:15 marathon in her mid fifties. (about 70%) Bloody hell! I'd be lucky to get 60% for a 5k these days (and I'd have to run-walk it) |

Thanks Sharkie. Once I get VMLM out of the way I might do a biut more speed training t& have a bash at some sprinting. I do enjoy our club track sessions where we do the shorter faster stuff - makes me feel like I;m reliving my youth - albeit at a much slower pace! I've had a few people comment that I convert my HM very well to a marathon (1:31:40/3:18). I have never been able to dip below the elusive sub 90 for a HM. When I did the 1:32 I recall just running past the 400m to go sign at GNR & thinking surely I could find another 400m but never have. At the moment my fave distance is the 5 miles - I have a target 5 mile race in July each year. That will defintiely bw an 80% target. |

An 80% marathon this year would be 3:23. I am oping I can dip below that a bit. All had been going super well with a relaxed 1:36:30 half in January but have had a niggly hamstring for about 10 days - really need it to do one now!

My big goal is 80% WAVA, which i have been chasing for 25 years. At 41 i did 59.41 for 10 miles, 78.58% At 52 a 1.26.05 Half Marathon got me to 79.11% Now at 65 i raised it to 79.23% with a time of 1.36.55 Last Saturday a parkrun pb of 21.10 raised it to 79.24% on the fetch WAVA but 79.21% on my watch time and distance. Not sure whether to try to get a little faster or a little older. |

Those are great times Chrisity. As I said on the 70% thread you need a birthday! You are so close!
