About Me

Started running in mid May 07 whilst on a break from the Tenpin Bowling league. Ran a few times a week in preparation for my 'local' 10km in August 07. Did a reasonable time in that (45 mins), but not as well as I wanted, so carried on doing a bit of training...finally started doing more regular training in December 2007 and carried this on throughout 2008. This helped improve my times at all distances over the year. I also had a go at a few open track events and found that I may be relatively better at sprinting than over any real distance!!!

Continued to progress until 2011 when I got lots of my PBs, but then I got into recreational cycling to celebrate my 30th birthday with a solo coast-to-coast ride. In 2011 I also discovered parkrun, via a local one being set up. Been part of the core team for that since day 1 - volunteered throughout the first year, then ran 50 times in the second year, then ran 50 different parkruns in the third year. Never 'raced' anything further than 10k, but have ran Half and full Marathons and a 50k, just for fun :-)

Now very much a fun runner rather than someone shooting for PBs
