Jack Crawford Memorial 10K

Entrants (21) Club PB SB Pred Time WAVA
Sunbed Athlete Won the race with a time just 7 secs outside my PB.Quite a fast start with lad from Glas Uni striding out in front.Wasnt until just after 2k when I got passed him. That put me into 2nd until 5k mark when I went past fellow clubmate Alan MacPherson & kept that lead right to the end with a winning margin of 16 secs.Conditions were just about freezing & were far better than last years torrential rain & galeforce winds.Apart from a few icey parts under foot was good.Got £50 & trophy but wasnt allowed to take trophy home.Much to my wifes delight. ChrisU Definitely don't bother betting on me. I'll be lucky to get sub 35 minutes. POST RACE > Managed 34:40, which was 2 seconds off my PB. Cambuslang Harriers, Westerlands Cross Country Club, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 34:38 34:40 34:59 34:40 81.57

JulesR Official finish time half a minute faster than I thought and less than a minute outside Fetch pb (interesting)

Great conditions compared to last year so went out fast for 3:30 first km, slowed to go through halfway in 19:05 then ean 4 min km's till 9 and pushed the last one. Result about right for where I am at the moment (not a lot of speedwork going on except in the pool). Nicely organised event and glad the rain stayed away.

Well done Siouxsie for a big pb and congrats Sunbed for winning the whole race even though they wouldn't let him keep the trophy! Stirling Triathlon Club 37:21 38:13 38:13 75.20

bedlam_g I think I've missed my PB by about a second. I didn’t stop my watch straight away, so there may still be a slim chance. It wouldn’t have mattered if I’d dug in and stayed with JulesR after 7k. Taking 4 minutes 04 seconds for the km between 8 and 9k is where I lost it. Well done to all the fetch PBs some fantastic times and although it was very flat I didn’t think it was the easiest course to run on.

ian9657 Runners World stated that i should be running a 43m 10k race if i want to run sub 3.30 marathon. Decided I'd go for a PB of under 44.12 so decided to try to get my first ever sub 44. Icy underfoot conditions. Wore my new shoes, long sleeve and woolly bonnet. Started well, tucked in behind fellow Bella Mark McG for first mile and then let him go and attached myself behind Janet Fellows from Helensburgh and Marie McChord from Kirkintilloch. Realised that I was in with a good shout to get a PB, so didn't do anything silly and just ran behind them. Felt a wee bit guilty as I overtook them in the final stretch. Still felt very good after the race, so there's still more to come ! Unaffiliated 41:35 43:04 44:41 43:04 68.99
Baza Disapointed to be slower than the previous week given that this was a flat course. Need to put it down to the frost and cold....honest Carnegie Harriers 36:28 36:52 39:03 67.71
Tizer Pretty happy with time although being 9 secs away from my first sub 40 10k is a bit sh*t. Thanks to all those who bet on me. The pressure of the bets definately kept me moving Falkirk Victoria Harriers 35:16 39:55 41:15 40:07 66.19
Siouxsie No idea if I will PB. More than likely not, but I will try.*update*
Brilliant course for a PB. Despite being quite icy underfoot on various parts, I ran really well considering I've done no speed work in 5 months! and got a much bigger PB than expected. When with 200 meters to go I glanced at the Garmin and it was still in the 46.xx I pushed for a sprint finish and got it. I heard her say 43 as I crossed the line, so official time might be afew seconds slower, but who cares? :-) I think the word I'm looking for is *boing* :-) Great to see JulesR, Spook and bedlam_g again...Was I the only fetch girl who ran? AND I didn't get a medal, but I'm so pleased with the PB, I don't care! Dumfries RC 45:14 46:41 47:34 46:41 64.36

jamesstewart13 I am glad all those that bet on me got a return. Very pleased with my time despite ongoing hamstring issues... Good race, the frozen wastes of Central Scotland saw a decent turnout and whilst the track was a bit tight at times, it was quite enjoyable. rleyton After last weeks new PB, I'm hoping the flatter course here should help. Weather permitting of course! Update: Weather was super, so very pleased to have hit my 2008 target of a sub-45 PB already! Slippy in places, and a few gates to navigate, but otherwise an absolutely great course. Updated Update: OK, official result says 45:01, but who am I to complain about taking a further minute off my PB in the space of a week? Bellahouston Road Runners 43:47 45:01 46:00 45:01 58.99
