BlueWombat Another crap marathon for 2007. Yet to break 4 hours, yet I ran 3:36 in December :-(. I don't know if it is psychological, physiological (lack of training) or just the rapid onset of old age. Bu**er. These 26.2 mile events just seem to hurt! Duncs Woohoo big PB. Wasn't too sure but started off well and ran with the same people for 20 miles. After a little dip around 21 miles felt good again and finished feeling good. 100 Marathon Club, Highland Hill Runners 3:23:46 3:47:23 3:50:00 3:47:23 54.44

Lieutenant Lucerne My second marathon and I hope to set a new PB. Halstead is an undulating course and it could be hot, which would slow me down. Balanced against this my training has gone well so far (including 8 runs of 20 miles or more).
UPDATE: well the weather was almost ideal for running a marathon. The undulations on the first lap seemed to turn in to hills on the second. Despite a slow last 6 miles I managed to get close to my predicted time.
I have written short blog (my first) with some thoughts about the race for those who are interested. Unaffiliated 3:10:19 3:20:38 3:20:00 3:20:38 65.07
Longy Bloody hilly and wet, but a New PB

Yippeeeeee!!!

Such a fab course, weather was perfect so as not to burn up. Had a great time, could even walk away, get in the car and drive. Marathons are the way forward, Halstead has taught me that.

Fab organisation as well. Great Medal and hosts Haverhill RC 3:15:55 3:15:55 3:50:00 3:35:16 56.54
monki Assuming the hills don't beat me, I should be PB here, although the primary objective is simply to run all the way round.

How chuffed am I! No idea I was in that kind of shape considering how heavy I am (17st 3 before the race). Rain was welcome at times, a nightmare at others. Easy undulations on the first lap turned into outright torture on lap 2 Fantastic support from Alzheimer's Research Trust, friends, family and loved ones. Got a bit emotional more than once. Did a small negative split. Best race I've done - easily the hardest I've tried. Very. Very. Chuffed. Unaffiliated 3:22:30 3:50:09 4:20:00 4:06:14 49.64

Stet 2nd year of running this fantastic race, bagged a joint Essex county bronze medal and a team gold so I now have a permanent smile on my face! Hope to run this every year, a true marathon made for runners by runners.
