I don't know if this is the oldest thing in our pantry, but it is the thing we're least likely to actually eat:

It must be less than 11 years old, because we've lived in this country for less than 11 years... We removed it from the pantry a few months ago. It has spent those few months sitting in the hallway because OH is curious what might happen next.

Fragile Do Not Bend
I think I’d be more inclined to put that tin in the garden, just in case 😳

hmm - looks like a potential lethal/chemical weapon!

Take youngest to the bus stop and park my car at work. Run home (the wiggly way), Log run, shower get ready to go to work.

Spend 30 seconds standing on driveway wondering why the remote button for my car isn't working - and then why there isn't a key hole in the door - before finally realising it's eldest's car and I have to walk back to work.

Jenelopy, are you sure that wasn't already in the house when you moved in 11 years ago?

SK, I once had to take two days off work when I put my back out washing my hair. (I don't think I was even 40 then!)

ITG: I'm pretty sure that we bought it. It has moved house with us (only once I think), but not countries, so it must be between 6.5 and 10 years old. I found it during a pantry clear out. I was surprised that several of the ~4 year old tins were going rusty. This was the only one we have chosen not to eat...

Carpathius
I've been working through all the ancient stuff in our cupboards, so I think the oldest thing is a tin of anchovy fillets BBE Feb 2013. Before that I think it was some spice mix from the late 1990s. God only knows how that arrived in our cupboard, because we moved in in 2001 and before that were homeless and any stuff we owned was in MiL's garage and a friend's loft, so we had to get rid of all we could. We certainly didn't pack up kitchen cupboard stuff.
