Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

A real thread-killer :p I feel like I might be to blame for asking the question in the first place!

Good luck everyone running today. I'm holding out for a position in the club's C team one of these days - it's a big club and more than 60 guys usually take part in Met League races. I need to be in the first 30 to score. Hopefully a bit speedier this year if my recent Sunday League performance wasn't just a day I got lucky.

I'm thinking of doing my first ever x-c tomorrow. Any top tips?! I hated it at school, but love trail running now. Long leggings an error?

It's been raining most of this morning in Leamington so the mud fest is a certainty! At least the ladies go first, I dread to think what some of the course will be like by the men's 3rd lap!!

'Long leggings an error?' in my view yes. They will get wet and heavy and won't keep you warm

I'd go for shorts, long leggings will just get soggy.

I was timekeeper at Leamington parkrun this morning, it is very very wet. They've changed the course a little to avoid the path where I guy broke his leg last year, it goes parallel along the grass near the finish straight but this means a nasty turn in to the ditch. Be careful out there!

Didn't know someone got injured that bad last year!

Leamington has a few paths with roots, very easy to do an ankle there.

Yes, guy from Stafford Harriers, fairly slow one of my clubmates was behind him and heard a crack, saw him fall we found out after what happened. One of those things he probably has a weakness there but with the roots it can happen.

Apparently the ladies course has been shortened, we only do the aeroplane field once rather than twice. It always comes up as a very long 6k on the garmin, can only think they have addressed the complaints. Frankly the longer it is the better chance Ive got of coming through and overtaking in the later stages!
