I agree with you SPR...XC is pretty draining. I had the last in race in January this year! I hope to do a little bit better this season though...

Had a good run at Winsford on Saturday, we missed the race briefing - they had changed the course for the ladies to be 2 x small and 1 x large lap making it 4 miles. I almost cried when I realized on the last lap what was in store! It is a fairly dull course but never mind I've been eased back in to it before the really tricky courses come along. Looking back at my records that was my best pace there by about 20 sec/mile on a 3/4 mile longer course this year. Pleased.

Well done Ndeller. Lap courses are awful aren't they!
I'm hoping for some rain in the next few weeks or our courses are going to be zzz

They can be ok if the course is nice but I know what you mean. This was pretty much football pitches with some up and down drags and they routed us through a section of "woods" (3 trees!) and over a token molehill. It's rare we get a single lap course unfortunately.
It was weird conditions, 19 degrees and sunny not XC weather at all. I want a good miserable time with the sleet blowing in my face!

ndellar - if you're in Cambridge this weekend, come out to Wimpole for the Half Marathon Hoohah. 13.1 miles of cross-country. Entries close today. The race is on Sunday.

I'd love to but I've got the Midlands XC relays this weekend!
Having said that I could probably get in the car straight after, drive to my parents and do it but I'm still recovering from the 100K really and need to be sensible. I shall be at Wimpole soon for some winter mud fun hopefully!

I ran 2 marathons plus a half all in one go. It's a big thing. It's only been 8 weeks. My HR readings are just getting back to normal for general and long runs. If I'd gone by my legs I'd have been back on it within a few weeks, feeling ok legs doesn't mean you are necessarily recovered.
I rarely get ill and never get injured, I'm afraid to say for me sensible is better in terms of enjoyment and consistent training

How did people get on at the XC relays? I really enjoyed it again this year as did the rest of the club. There were some scarily fast times in the mens race - I blinked and they had done their first lap!
