Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Spikes are a mystery to me. I'm not even sure they make them wide enough for my mutant feet :-0 sorry to hijack your question Andy. Hope someone can give some guidance :-)

i wouldn't recommend to use medium distance spikes for XC

I use proper XC spikes and they very useful on very muddy buggy terrain, they will give you a lot more grip than the track spikes!

I have wide feet also. people used to say fell/trail shoes are just as good. I do lots of fell and bought some New balance XC spikes and can tell you spikes make a huge difference in XC races

Andy - go for XC spikes then if you want to run on the track you just change the spikes in the front to shorter ones. Plus you have the added bonus of having the extra grip for XC. The other option of course is if you have some fell or multi terrain shoes then wear these for the 1st couple of races to see if it is for you as forking out £40 for a pair of spikes may not be worth it.

We have just had to buy new spikes for no 1 daughter as she had grown out of hers and they fit no 2 daughter perfectly so a mad dash to Sweatshop today. Bought some addidas XC spikes (bright pink - she is not too impressed, but, they were the best fit). Should have been £45, but, we got them for £25 :-)

I've added the Scottish East League fixtures, plus East District and National champs races to the fetch database.

I've always worn fell/trail for XC races. However, the leagues that I run in are more trail than the XC you'd see at the nationals :)

I got spikes for the first time last year, they are better IMO.

Just under 6 weeks to go :-)

oi you
Thank you mrs mjb. Kent League starts today and I'm unusually edgy. In the last few years I've slid gracelessly down the V50 rankings, but now I'm into the V60s - a gfood run would be appreciated, please.
