Doesn't sound like you're feeling it LMH, hopefully you can get around without any issues. Baz, do you think you'll have it in you mentally to pick the pace up when you're on your own? More importantly, will it be in the vapors or something a little cheaper? |

Thanks WW, I looked at that map this morning. We are going to know the lake pretty well by the end of it. Knee height sounds doable for water bottles so I will invest in a few cheap bottles and see if I can get away with placing them. Saves me having to carry that extra weight! |

That’s a good question Chris and one I won’t know until Sunday !! I think it might be hard to push on when running solo and it’s not a real race. I found the second half of yesterday 16 miles quite tough albeit that was hillier than the early miles. I am not wasting vaporfly miles for this but I did christen a new pair of zoomfly flyknit which I will use. I am on a taper of sorts this week and will just see what Sunday brings. |

Chris - my knee has been really bad since being taken out by a loose dog two months ago. I can't walk more than half a mile without pain. Chris - just buy the little sports cap bottles of water. |

I’m still planning on giving the virtual marathon a bit of an effort. It’s going to take a lot of willpower to keep going over the latter miles whilst not in a race, but to be honest I don’t really see marathons as races anyway. I’m never at the sharp end in terms of overall positions and I couldn’t be bothered if Bruce from Basildon who I ran with miles 6-14 starts pulling away. If anything I’m hoping at least one of the group of 6 I’m in decides they want to ‘win’ the virtual marathon, I’m happy to run with the planned pace of 6:45 per mile at the start but would like to get the average closer to 6:30 by the end and a bit of competition in the latter stages will help me. |

Enjoying reading about most people’s countdown to Sunday. Hope the knee holds up LMH. I have only ran three marathons the first I ran the last 13 miles or so by myself, the second the last two and a bit and the third the last 10k but still wouldn’t fancy doing the full 26.2 alone |

I did the entire 2nd half solo in a small event that I won, but at least there were support stations and a smattering of spectators. And I was winning

The first and third marathons were at Rother valley. They were 8 3/4 laps of the lakes, aid station every lap and kept running pass my wife who at first was waking around the lakes. At Boston my second one I was in the town when I was by myself so has some spectators
