Son of a Pronator Man
I used Mubi to catch up with Emilia Perez last night. A film I missed at the cinema. I really enjoyed it. An unusual story told in an interesting way.

Watched Transformers One last night at the behest of a son. We all really enjoyed it; proper popcorn stuff, toys being toys, fantasy world, action that you could follow, etc. Never going to win Oscars, but exactly what a Transformers film should have been from the start! |

I'm just home after seeing The Marching Band... a lovely, funny, heartwarming and uplifting film.

The Phoenician Scheme on Tue. I quite liked it. Not Wes Anderson's best work but nowhere near his worst either. 7/10 Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning last night. Slow start but once it finds its feet it's exciting af ! A worthy last instalment. 9/10 |

actual jason issacs in 'the salt path' earlier - enjoyed it, and calling it an advert on behalf of the cornwall tourist board does it a disservice.

Saw The Salt Path last night. Nah, not for me I'm afraid. Slow as a week in the jail ... and depressing into the bargain. 6/10

We saw MI yesterday. Loved it, but it’s not the best one.

One of the stunt coordinators has just released a short video on rehearsals for the "flaming" skydiving stunt to my local DZ group - they did the run thoughs at Hinton. Apparently he has more to let us see in the coming weeks. I'd share it, but it's a closed group. Wowsers, I think I might have to go and see MI just for that. A lot of aerial film stuff gets done at Hinton because it's convenient for Elstree + Leavesden - until very recently we had the Aerodium Peryton on site (link: aerodium.technology ) - it's been there for several years since one of the very early MI films but just last month started to be dismantled, presumably for transport to a film set near you. Last year some WWII parachuting footage was filmed there (I forget which film) where the skydivers had to wear vintage pilot gear - very hot in the summer, I gather. |
