I did wonder, @larkim , if keeping a sequel option open was a studio requirement to financing the film. I’ve read a lot about how expensive Sinners was to produce (although a bunch of that is bad faith reporting and trolling).

Maybe, I can see that. Doing it without a loud klaxon going off shouting "SEQUEL CONTENT, SEQUEL CONTENT" is fine (and what Sinners managed I thought) but sometimes it is so overt you actively want them to avoid doing the sequel!

I agree, and I did think that Sinners pulled it off in a way that felt like part of the story and made sense. Some really don't.

42 years ago today we went to see ‘Tootsie’ on our first date ❤️. After many months of trying I’ve finally managed to find a film that we both want to see on an evening when we’re both free and so tonight we’re going to see ‘Sinners’. The comments above are very encouraging 😊

We really enjoyed Sinners. An interesting take on the genre and it confirmed my long-held belief that there’s something very odd about Irish dancing. The music was fantastic.
