Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Somebody let me know when fozzy’s done trolling the thread, please.
If you want to know what the current models are capable of, there is detailed information on the Garmin website.

That said, if you really just want another 310xt, mine still worked last time I tried it, and you are welcome to it for whatever you would consider an appropriate donation to CRUK. PM me your address

Has anyone suggested DC Rainmaker? Apologies if this is stating the obvious.
I wouldn't swim with a watch only rated to 50 metres but many people would - bear in mind that 30 metres is regarded as splash proof.
Having said that, my automatic wristwatch is rated to 150 metres but I take that off to wash my hands.

Why is 30m depth considered splash proof? I'd consider 30m proof as perfectly swimmable - 30m is pretty damned deep!!

I think fozzy has the same attitude to ££ as I do!!

Honestly I think a FR45 will knock the socks off a 310, but all devices today are designed to work "best" with a smartphone.

The 645 might provide a good features Vs vfm option though at £189.

FR35 works perfectly well plugged in to a PC, presumably the 45 would be the same?

(I couldn't download Connect into my Android 5 phone, although afaik it was supposedly compatible down to 4.4. I've since bought an Android 10 phone. They don't have to costs £££100s - mine was under £90.)

Sorry if not having a spare £300 to spend on a new Garmin is trolling.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll have another look tomorrow.

I was hoping for an upgraded version of the 310 that was a little more modern if possible to future proof a bit, but doesn't look like it's possible, so I'll have to go for a basic one or a 2nd hand 920 on eBay

And yes, I looked at DC rainmaker.

It recommended a 310xt!
