You feel horrible cos your thyrpid is stilll underactive Try to think of the thyroxine as replacing something you dont have naturally, rather than a *drug*

Thyroxine isn't a drug, as such; it's replacing a natural hormone which your body is either not, or under- producing. If your dose has been increased, it means that your hormone levels must still be low.
From my own experience, it takes a while* to adapt to a change in dose, which could explain the feeling horrible; the dry skin would generally be a symptom of being thyroxine deficient, so you could still be seeing the effects of your previous, too-low, dose.
As for training, while I was getting my dose settled down and my body was getting used to having thyroxine again, I was all over the place; some days, I was going like a train, others I was useless. This was no different to how I was before I was diagnosed. I'm training well now though
* seriously, I was really not a lot better for the thick end of 4 years, despite my TFTs coming in in normal range for a large part of that time...then suddenly, things started to improve.

I'm 18 months diagnosed and although feel a lot better I don't feel how I used to and training has sometimes left me struggling, my last check said I was ok though!

Update on my situation: It wasn't my thyroid... apparently, I have Lyme disease, which caused all the symptoms. It also can cause the thyroid to not produce enough hormones, however, in the tests, my thyroid function was normal. I have been on meds and supplements to help with symptoms for two months now and am slowly starting to feel better...

Good to hear that you're feeling better Hann
I feel like a different person on thyroxine. All I can say that the lord for it! I'm back running, I have energy, I'm doing more creative stuff...only thing that sucks now is that where the tiredness was in a way an excuse for not taking action to resolve the things I wasn't happy with before, I no longer have that excuse. Dammit!
