Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I did sometimes see sudden improvements in pace/HR which would then go back a bit before a gradual step forward. So not quite as scullion describes, but over a marathon cycle there were signs when improvements and adaptations were happening

I am looking forward to VLM and kind of wish I could get the old days back. I have though had more back issues and have been cycling a lot instead for almost two weeks.

It does make me realise how lucky I was

Agree I sometimes see a single step forward, usually mid P&D when the intervals start. HR drops a few beats for easy runs and stays there compared to earlier in the plan. Not as rapidly as a couple of weeks though.

I'm looking forward to London particularly for my wife though. I'll be glad to see the back of marathon training for a while, 3 seasons on the bounce has become a bit unrelenting. I do appreciate the position of privilege though and no doubt if I picked up an injury just after London I'd be jealously admiring all those runners out there.

London celebrity spotting … Bazo we met a few times on course if I remember right - I think tower bridge once? And I’m sure in the last mile…..

Loving the maranoia.

I’ve listened to Stephen Scullion’s podcast in the past … not much recently - he’s had a lot going on in recent years and would be amazing to see him
Qualify and then manage to execute a good run at the olympics.

I’m intrigued by the women’s exit race to see what happens with the third selection for the olympics. Equally interesting to see what happens with male selection….

I’m also very jealous of my big sister running Boston on Monday - I don’t think the 6 stars or using Boston qualifiers was such a thing for us back in the early 2010s when I would have had the time.

Not doing Boston is my one regret

Talking of meeting fetches on course. I recall meet Lou Lou around Big Ben, but not tower bridge.

I ran with BRubble for about ten miles one year.

Happy g passed me on his pb year. RFJ did as well one year about the same place as I had encountered Lou Lou.

Postieboy, idlewild, tiger, stoosh PtB and WW all passed me. In fact there are photos my family took around 23 miles and PtB, idlewild and postie all appeared in them.

I once passed jock itch. I also think I passed kinkyS once.

I probably missed a few as well.

I follow Stephen's channel. It was initially way above my head. But I think a combination of me improving as a runner and getting better understanding of the sport and him also slightly adjusting his presentation style, I really enjoy his content. I wish him well but it must be so frustrating to be at 2:09 level, competing at the very top of your sport still knowing that 2:09 will never get you on the podium. What a mind f"$k.

Happy days. We were lucky then that the GFA meant you definitely got a place. 3:14:59 for V40.

I remember that Baz, we ran from the FGFA that year. I saw LouLou somewhere around Limehouse I think on other year. And obvs HappyG and PtB at the end in 2013 :-)

Covid stopped me doing Boston, twice.
