Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well I ran at Perry Park in the Birmingham Ladies League today and was well pleased as for the first time ever I counted as a scorer (I'm not delusional some of the faster girls are saving themselves for next week's North Staffs fixture). Its a very flat course, nothing too taxing in terms of mud either. One of the West Brom girls thought she could take me on the last hill - she was wrong :-) still it gave the crowd something to cheer at!

Finally I'm so glad I've done one - due to other running commitments this is the first proper XC I've done since the 2008/9 season ended in Feb!

Well done Anj,

They are never accurate distance, mine today supposed to be 6k, was over 4 miles (6.5k).

I firmly believe including XC Dec 2008-Feb 2009 helped me get much fitter and stronger for the London Marathon.

My lungs and throat feel like someone has had a go at them with wire wool...

I am hoping the XC will help with leg strength and CV. I was really huffing and puffing today, well within my anaerobic zone I reckon.

Why is it, everyone just starts waaaaaaay too fast??

Tell me about it.... first mile 7:55, followed by the other 3 around 8:30-8:45. I made that mistake today...lol

I think at some of these races it's a relatively small field (200 or less) so you kind of get dragged in to a pace that is a bit too quick.
