The Wood bank plus recent rain will sort things out. Still no spikes this season for me, xtalon should handle the conditions.

Don't think my inov8s are really up to the hill, so spikes debut this season for me. But I'll be walking out with the U11s first of all so we'll see what it's like.

How were the X talon today rhb? I felt I needed the spikes up and down the hill, but I've only got roclite inov8s so I don't have a feeling for how much gripper muscles mudclaws or xtalons would be.

X-talons are very good (I have the 190s and previously had the 212 and both were my XC shoe before I changed to spikes) but spikes are better. In drier conditions they're about the same though. A run round a very muddy Perry Park in the 190s a few years back is what convinced me to get spikes they're just more versatile for XC with the changing of spike pin lengths. The x-talons might be better in snow though.
Ran second Bham XC leagu fixture at Warley Woods as a progressive run today. Nice course. I warmed up and down in X-talons today and was pretty good, ran the in slightly worn 12mms and on a couple of downhill turns, 15mm would have been nice but no major slippage.

How'd your race go? Hope it went well.
The x talon were fine, it would've been sketchy in roclites! My pre race, pacing, and vision weren't fine.
On a whim I decided to run there (6.5miles ave 145bpm but spikes to climb up through Stockport). Not sensible.
Got away well at start then realised my hr was well above 5k effort, and I was ahead of some v.quicks I know from a local club so had already blown it. No rescuing things from that, just maintained effort at a lower level and watched folks fly by throughout.
Hadn't worn glasses and found the descents hard as struggled to spot footing amongst mud & roots so was v.tentative.
Felt well enough after a brew & cake to slow run home, feel grand now. Going to be more sensible at Heaton Park, Tram there & back.

Enjoyed it, 3 mins faster than last year but I think that's conditions more than anything. 23/81 in the v45s which is my best finish %age-wise.
Weather was much better than I'd feared too as we were there from 11am so I was worried a day of pouring rain might dampen the enthusiasm of the younger family members (and my better half!!). Quite pleasant as it turned out!

Nice one Larkim, that's a good result. I look to have been 3 mins slower than Feb 2017 (Missed last yr with PF). Conditions were fairly good but it was a bit of a slog in places still.
It was the nicer weather that lulled me into running there & back!

Got the Ware Cup this weekend, with the rain we’ve had this Saturday will be testing.
