Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I actually underlog all that stuff- I put in my 45 min circuits classes as 200, and body pump as 200. Anything like body balance and pilates I just log as 100 for the hour. Anything extra is a bonus.

My spinning classes only give me 230 and I'm sure I must burn more than that. I just call it extra bonus weight loss :)

I agree MFP is a tad generous so I normally underlog some of the exercise I do each day.

I use Boots Diets and 20 minutes of circuits would be about 140, which seems right. GF, my spinning gives me 464 calories for 45 minutes...and it certainly felt like it last night, I could barely walk when it was finished!

I used Boots Diets when I lost my 2 stones but eventually it drove me up the wall having to input all the nutrional data when they did not have things in their database. This was particularly annoying when it was Boots own brand stuff.

I don't even try to estimate exercise calories, never mind calculate them, because I'm so unconvinced that any of the numbers mean anything.

They've updated it Becca, most stuff is on there now. Or perhaps I just always eat the sam stuff and don't need to add anything... lol

I also adjust MFP , I have just worked out my own and use those now.
It is a bit annoying that as you lose weight MFP adjusts them down but I suppose that is realistic
When deciding what to use I think about it in terms of running ie how much less than for running. So if I do a hill walk on the TM which is really hard work I think that is about the same as running but when I cycle I think I use about half of when I am running.
Anything sitting down is going to be less. Think XT I have as about 15% lower than running and body pump lower still
I have spin a bit less than XT cos although I work harder at spin than on the XT spin is sitting down!

I don't take *much* notice of the various online estimations of cals burned during exercise - they seem wildly over optimistic. If I log half an hours Shreddery or similar I reckon about 100 for me - and that's hard sweaty effort with lots of big explosive movements. Doesn't cover a whole lot of sourdough and Comte cheese. (One of today's munchtastic moments.)

Is it ok to join in? I have quite a way to go even to reach the average figure. I made the mistake of not entering that I was female and thought the figures weren't too bad ...

I am 5'2" and at the moment weight about 8 12. Last summer I was about 8 6 but a running lay off meant the pounds came back even though I was doing lots of gym stuff. The male average for my height is 8:9 so I think I'll use that as my first target ... small steps.

I have been calorie counting for the last couple of weeks or so and have not lost much at all, so hoping the fact I am shredding in addition to other stuff and building running back up will help ... I used to be under 8 stone and would love to get back there ... I try to walk as much as I can on top of training, but I do like food!
