I'm ploughing through the 18 week P&D 55 to 70 programme for Abingdon. I thought I'd be able to do my running at lunchtimes, but some of the midweek runs are just too long (13 miles yesterday) to tackle during the working day without looking like I'm taking the piss out of my colleagues. Off to Orlando this weekend. Heat + Humidity + Time on Feet at themeparks will probably see the plan largely abandonded for a couple of weeks. |

Good news Brunski. I'm in the second of two big weeks (100 miles) before an enforced cutback week next week (whatever I can fit in whilst on holiday in Pwllheli - though finding running routes rather than time is likely to be the issue) then back to it hoping to make my autumn marathon - Robin Hood - this year. I don't suppose anyone has run it the last couple of years and has a course profile they would share? I started a thread and Fetch tried to help (though no one else responded) but the course he linked to was 2013 and I'm pretty sure they've changed it since then. Loving this weather for long runs:-) |

Not that I'm killing time at work LMH, but.... The official course looks subtly different from the Organisers Diagram: robinhoodhalfmarathon.co.uk Looks like last year folks did a 180 degree turn at the end of Abbey Street, but the organisers diagram for this year suggests the second finger-loop has gone. |

Obviously much better technologically than me Fergus (and I'm not on Strava) - thank you! Doesn't look too bad when you consider the elevation is in feet does it?

Average of around 38 miles the past month with the aim of sticking to about 44 base miles per week up until Winter training starts for London (P&D 55-70). Nice not to be a slave to the marathon plan, especially with this heat! 😓 Got a 10k on Sunday that I hope to get a PB on, hence the low miliage this week! 🤞🏻 More importantly it's my son and daughter's sports day and I have been forced into running the Dad race after a 2 year break. I have learnt that being an OK long distance runner doesn't mean success! However a change to 400m on the track gives me more confidence than 100m, where a Dad went past me like a rocket with bare feet at the 40m mark! My smug dead cert victory face soon disappeared when a second person pipped me at the post to leave me with the bronze! Hence the 2 year break! I am not built for sprinting...... |

JDA - world champion, get in! Tandem triathlon, does that mean your partner took the swim, you both rode a tandem bike then you took the run? Postie - a cut back week won't hurt at all, you've trained non stop since London! LMH - a couple of 100 miles excellent! Smudgie - Only ever done the one dads race and that was a 60 metres sprint on grass in the park when my eldest was in reception. I blasted that in my cargo shorts, and adidas sambas. Turned up 2 years after for my youngest's reception sports day with some old runners and they didn't even bloody have one. Since they're both older they have the sports day in the school yard or a local leisure centre and haven't had a dads race - shame, but retired as undefeated dad. |

Yup that's exactly right brunski. Except the run was situated some way away from the event centre (pool) so we had a short 2nd bike leg back to the finish too. With two transitions I just wore running shoes for the bike legs (inov8 terraclaw) which worked out very well. But mostly it was the bike leg wot won it. We were storming (i.e. hardly any else was taking it seriously).

week 1 of my chester plan is in progress and had a 14 and a 12 so far this week. I am quite happy with the pace/effort stats I am seeing which I think compare favourably with those I saw back in Feb at the same stage of VLM prep

Finally started running again last week with the help of an open knee support to help with patella tracking. Only up to 4 miles so far and taking things slowly, its amazing how much you can lose after 2 months of nothing. I did the parents race at sports day, a 100m out and back. I ran to the cone before turning, the others didn't....not that I'm bitter at all. Good luck with the training all! |

JDA sounds fun - I'm rubbish at swimming so sounds my kind of a gig! Baz - Great stuff. Nice when the stats show an improvement! Chris - Good to hear you're back. Hopefully the knee support helps you find some pain free running again! |
