I used to do a little hill training last year but have since moved to the coast, does anyone else train "on the beach" as opposed to hill work?

It's much harder. Fantastic for leg turnover, though.

The South coast does have hills, though, you know. Just not Northern hills.

I live on the Lincolnshire coast. No hills here. However there are some lovely hilly runs starting just three miles inland in the Wolds.

I've tried it. All depends on the type of sand. Barefoot through the surf :-) :-) :-) Deep dry sand :-o :-o :-o

I did a mixed terrain race (50/50 sand and tarmac) a few weeks ago. Loved the beach part. Strangely I was the only one who liked the sand that I spoke to.

There is no surface which mashes the calves up worse than sand. Which means it has to be good, right?
