Thanks Sam. I’d say it’s a well organised race series with great volunteers but I’ve yet to come across a bad ultra. |

I'd agree with that assessment, but I'm good friends with the RD It's a nice route and the CP volunteers are ace There is a winter version in November which I'll either be running (hopefully) or at a CP. In terms of going through 2+ nights on races, I find taking a 15-20 minute nap whenever I start to get really sleepy can be amazingly restorative, far better than a singe long sleep, and you tend to get less cold and stiff that way. |

Do all you can to sleep in checkpoint rather than out rough. But others prefer a sleep away from the noise of CPs If you have a drop bag or central CP, having a little pillow or similar is a big aid to a nice sleep. And maybe an eye mask. Also I’ve done well with restarting my watch after a sleep. Tricks yourself into thinking you are starting fresh rather than it being mile 135/hour 40 etc |

They’re great tips thank you. I have to have road crew anyway so was going to put a sleeping bag in the car anyway but I’m now adding a pillow too. 👍

I also heard about that race but had never heard of it. Wasn’t sure what it was called to look it up but I will do. Doubt very much it’s in my ability though.

I recced the last 10k of Lakes in a Day earlier, from Newby Bridge to Cartmel. Absolutely gorgeous scenery in daylight! Also far better and faster with fresh legs compared to the death march of October 2022.

That’s one race I’m glad I did before they introduced new cut offs etc … that last slog was tough in the dark 😱@Shortcut Cam
