Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Longwayround (LWR)
When Preston's 118th Parkrun arrived about a year ago, several of us ordered 118 kit. Mine arrived in time for the third anniversary.

I have 4 volunteers for Saturday. 4. So what will convince more to come forward in future - I reckon telling them there won't be any timers might work

I think some RDs go round with a future rota and a clipboard asking people to sign up for future weeks
Sticking a plea on Facebook on Friday might work
Worst case: ask for volunteers on the day otherwise it won't go ahead
I don't usually volunteer before Thursday, it might be a bit early in the week still?

We usually have the roster filled by now. Asking people on the day to `take one for the team' has crossed my mind. The clipboard is something we're going to do from here on in.

I usually get an email mid-week asking about volunteering.

Unless I have a particular reason to volunteer (e.g. a race the next day), then like so many others I tend to have a look at the volunteer rota on Thursday or Friday and step in if there looks to be a shortage.

I'm on the other side now as I am RD this week with only 5 volunteers so hoping will be ok. In fact we often have people looking to volunteer on the morning, so then end up with a surplus. Ultimately if we don't have enough then I assume we get to 9:00 on Saturday and ask for people to step forward or we don't run. (Actually I assume people can always run round if they want to at their own risk, but they won't have their result recorded).

I'm a parkrunner who has never volunteered. The shock of an event not taking place due to a shortage of volunteers would be an eye-opener to me. Is that an option?
