Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh good, I shall be listening to that on my long run tomorrow :) Got home from my 5m recovery just as the blizzard kicked in, really had hoped to get to Christmas parkrun this morning but didn't want to risk being stuck on the roads getting back in the car. Tomorrow I was supposed to be doing a 10K, I was going to run to it and do that as my mara pace section then home again but it's been postponed. So a long run in the woods instead. Somehow I can't see any of that being mara pace, more like get you round pace!

Long run was curtailed a bit due to snow on the ground reducing my pace to 8mm at best. I only had a narrow window for my run - had to be back by 9am. Managed just over 12 miles in 1:40.

60 miles for week 1. Pleased to get all the sessions in although the long run was due to be a bit longer.

Week 2:

Mon: 6 miles recovery
Tue: 8 miles inc 10x100m strides
Wed: 13 miles
Thu: 6 miles recovery
Fri: 11 miles
Sat: 6 miles recovery
Sun: 17 inc 8@MP

Christmas will intervene a bit. I suspect 11 miles on Christmas Eve will be hard to find a window for.

Weight this morning: 74kg. (73.3 last Monday) - arse

abdou they know its Christmas?
Well done getting all the sessions in Matt. I only managed the long run (also slightly snow-shortened) and the lactate threshold, and some overzealous cross-training which meant I was too worried about muscle strains to risk more runs on snow.

good luck Matt mate. Go easy when you get to the taper though. I still think there are too many miles in the last week. Heard that from many other runners too

Rockin around the RichyC
My weekend running plans took a hit unfortunately. Friday was xmas lunch day so managed a 5m recovery run early doors. Hungover sat so an easy 5m. Then Sunday we woke to more heavy snow so I put my long run off until later and got roped into shopping, but by the time we got back and I headed out it was 4pm, getting dark, snowing again and I settled for an easy 8m rather than long run. Not ideal and I considered doing my long run today but on reflection I had run 60m the previous 5 weeks with decent longer runs so I will accept it as a cutback week and get back to plan this week.

This week will be very similar to that of Baz. I had planned to race 10k on boxing day but given travel conditions and missing Sunday's run I think I'll go in search of a decent flat and minimal ice route and have a crack at 16-18 with 8 @ MP. If conditions are grim I'll settle for getting the miles in.

I agree there are too many miles in the taper. I cut a few of them out normally. Luckily, that's still a long way away.

Off for a run now, might be a little tricky underfoot for strides.

There's a parkrun on Christmas Day on hackney marshes. Planning to go along to that unless the family scream at me!

Will be doing my 8 with strides on the treadmill. Not quite sure how to do that but I will put some 0.1 mile sessions at high ( 5.30mm) pace into the session. Will the 'mill go that fast ?
