First day of marathon training. Nice easy 5 miles - a bit windy though.

Just back from Magic Roundabout 10k - what an experience. First trail run - heavy rain and wind all day - everyone got very wet and cold, runners, great marshalls, organisers and the great band Bandomania! No idea of time but just wanted to finish - hills seemed to keep on coming. Met another lunatic Fetchie - Running Bob. Always good to meet Fetchies! - we're a great lot! Photo's to follow

i was on the isle of wight visiting my parents and decided to do a bit of exploring in an area that i hadnt explored before. i got lost as the sign for the footpath i wanted was obscured by overgrown foliage. i got stung as i tried to run through the overgrown foliage after finding the path.
its so much more fun going off-road, even if it is harder, slower, and often not very clear where you should be going.

True, when I was first posted to Hermitage (a quaint village surrounded by countryside in Berkshire) it was fun to find many different running routes 'off-road''.

A very windy and very humid 7.5 miles, ran it against my 'virtual partner' so pushed myself more than usual. Most enjoyable.
(Im single-handedly trying to bring back the 70's tennis pro headband look too)

YP: i tried the headband but i found it irritating. kudos for trying though. what i really want is some "golden-era of running" kit - a white vest with the red and blue stripes, a pair of short shorts, and massive race numbers. however, i would settle for a kenya vest, a sprint suit, or an alberto salazar-esque fishnet vest.
