Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Has anyone actually had a decent 2016?

I'm a glass half full sort of a guy. I have my wonderful family and my health, a good job and I managed to hit some of my running goals as well. All in all, a good 2016!

Its not been too bad, a few downs - the main one being dad getting diagnosed with prostate cancer, but fortunately he seems to be in good health otherwise and it is very early stage so he can potentially be around for a while yet and still in fine fettle.

Otherwise I got a good job, had some great holidays, done some good walks. Yeah, could be much worse 😄

The peaks were peaky and the troughs are....troughy!
So many awesome cycling events done, and running (was) coming back nicely. I was having so much fun that I'd wondered when some Higher Power would notice, and stop me :-p

On a personal and family level, the ups have very much outweighed the downs. The big world may have gone mad but here in our little world, we're doing ok thanks.

Running wise 2016 has been a great year for me, however other aspects of my life have not been so great :(

It's been mostly good. A few missteps here and there, but I soon got over them. Got a lot more running in, discovered new hobbies, kept my job for another year - all things that give me hope for a better 2017.

Running-wise, I've had a pretty disappointing year. No injuries - just poor results as I just couldn't meet my expectations.

Still have a job following the latest cull, so mustn't grumble.
