Jesus Christ. I thought I’d just watched someone die. So glad he’s walked away 🍀🍀🍀

I think we're safe in breaking the usual spoiler rules today to say thankfully he survived. Highlights later would have looked very different had the outcome not been so good. Not seen anything like that for many years.

Yeah, shocking, but knew/hoped that he was OK because I hadn't seen any news headlines before I watched the highlights at 8pm.

Some good racing - Sainz looked good in the McLaren, shame for Perez, and great to see two Red Bulls on the podium, glad for Albon!

Didn't see the Stroll crash - what happened there? Need to google it. :-) G

Do we think Albon has done enough? He lucked into that podium (yes, you make your own luck etc) and that's where his team expect him to be finishing in all honesty, even if they accept that Max is 0.3s faster than just about anyone else.

Stroll was a bit slow-mo - Kyvat went for the apex, stroll went for the same one (and was still just ahead), Stroll didn't give K any room and bounced off the left front of K that had already been in the wars with Grosjean.

Yeah, found it on F1.com, with open wheel cars I suppose it's almost surprising that wheels don't interlock more often and produce flips. But it's pretty unusual. Another halo lifesaver? :-) G

I suspect the natural angle between the airbox and the nose is enough in a crash like that to avoid the helmet strking the floor, but it does give the driver perhaps a little more space to escape from?

About This Thread

Maintained by larkim
Thread for those who like their racing long, predictable but strangely addictive. And generally fossil fuelled.

Spoiler best practice
No quali spoilers until after (or during?) the Ch4 highlights show
No race spoilers until after (or during?) the Ch4 highlights show

Spoiler tags can be used - we're all grown ups so no need to click a Spoiler tag if we don't need to. But just make sure you type it correctly!!

So it needs to be (without the spaces, and all lowercase)

< spoiler >< /spoiler >
