Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes, my pool tri's and aquathlons have all stipulated exit via steps GM, so you'll be fine (if I'd had to haul myself out I might still be there :-) )

Following the chat on the 'Smell' thread I looked back over my blogs about my initiation into the dark side - OW swim events and my first tri.

fetcheveryone.com/blog-share.php?id=334899

and

fetcheveryone.com/blog-share.php?id=353341

may or may not encourage you :-)

But bear in mind I've entered another Tri this year so it can't be that bad!

I did a pool swim at the start of a triathlon where we were all hoicked out of the shallow end by two or three burly chaps and told to get a move on.

I did enjoy reading your blogs, LazyDaisy, and noted my comment on the 2nd one 😅

I messaged the organiser last night about getting out of the pool and he will put me in the lane which has the steps so I don’t have to worry about how I get out.

Here's one for the triathletes that I've unearthed during my database work today. Median T1 time is 145 seconds; and median T2 time is 85 seconds.

(Median = middle. Can be more useful than averages, especially if a few people skew the data by nipping off for a shower after the swim).

@fetcheveryone I'm not sure how useful that stat is as the shorter events will generally have a very short transition time dictated mostly by the size of the Transition area and anything over half ironman distance will be skewed longer by people doing full kit changes for more comfortable clothing

Agreed - I should be able to subdivide it by race length though.

Hello everyone, could you do a bit of hand holding please?

@Tiger Feet and I are doing the sprint in Nottingham in 3 weeks time. It’s her first triathlon and my second but my other one was 7 years ago and I had a whole bunch of Fetchies there holding my hand.

I’ve got the usual worries - I’ll drown in the lake, people will laugh at my bike, I won’t make the cutoffs - but I can deal with them. What’s really causing me stress is trying to work out the logistics.

I think we’re entered in the 12:30 non-competitive wave - at least I hope I am! I can’t work out what sort of time we should aim to arrive to deal with registration, racking etc. I’ve heard horror stories about the parking in previous years. I booked and paid for parking when I entered but if we don’t arrive at the crack of dawn will we still be able to park?? Mr HB always wants to leave things to the last possible minute whilst I’m a complete stress head and would rather be two hours early than a minute late. We’ve got a hotel booked nearby for the night before, but if we don’t need to be there til mid morning we could cancel, but then the A1 might be closed.

All this stuff is keeping me awake at night, please help me sort it out

Thank you xx

The pack should say when to rack
As you are a later wave the close parking will be full so expect a walk ie allow lots of time to walk from care to racking.
Try to get everything in 1 bag so you don’t have to return to the car

Relax
Smash it!
