Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sainsbury's. Six weeks until Christmas and they have a Christmas tree up, and "Happy Christmas" banners festooned about the checkouts. They are ruining Christmas. Even more than all the other places ruining Christmas.

[I'm feeling quite well disposed towards Sainsbury's because I bought a load of cheap hyacinth bulbs yesterday. Possibly cheap because they're being shoved out to make room for poinsettias.]

[ There was a story a week or two ago about how people hadn't started buying Christmas stuff because the weather was still mild.

I went in Sainsbury's last week and their Christmas shelves were all positioned near the door with the banners 'It's never too early'.

In the words of that great philosopher, Father Jack.. feck off..! ]

[I spotted real trees for sale in our Morrison’s yesterday - I wonder what the chances are of them still having needles on by Christmas?]

The neighbours have their tree up. After last year's mess with dropped needles trying to get it out of the house, we're going back to an artificial tree this year.
