Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Currently trains and more specifically LNER after being held at a station for over 6 hours and still being hours away from where we wanted to be

That happened to my DiL during the last storm a couple if weeks ago - around Grantham. I hope you get your clearance soon 🤞🤞

Every time I dismiss an ad on Xwitter i get the message "Thanks. X will use this to make your timeline better."

If that was the case how come they constantly splatter the most inappropriate ads on my timeline. Items and services which I barely understand, have never had any dealings in, and am highly unlikely to be interested in.

Some examples of what I'm offered

- This book describes the ways historical data can be explored to construct cultural heritage knowledge.
- This holiday, introduce the family note-taker to a small workflow revolution.
- A Must-Have for Feline Fanatics And Couples
- So many gambling ads.

when a mis-hit key on my laptop is taken to mean that I want to activate some vile, deskilling, interfering "helper" in whatever I am using. But when I have a clearly defined need, the software for it is not to be found anywhere.

[Someone's probably posted about this on here before, probably even me, but...] how every single time you try to contact Virgin Media online, the reply is "Our wait times are very high at the moment due to an unprecedented demand...". I mean literally: every single time I contact them, and there's been plenty of those over the years. If it happens every day (that's the reply I got yesterday, too, before Virgin Media abandoned the call!!!) then it's not unprecedented, just bad management.
