Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Financial institutions that push paper-free contact then confirm it (and every minor rule change afterwards) via letter.

Overuse of “officially” as in

I’m officially on holiday
I’m officially the owner of a new mini/house/horse
I’m officially a granny

"Breaking News" push notifications from the BBC news app which are neither breaking, nor news. (I know I could delete the app or faff around to turn them off, but every once in a while it's something I wanted to know about).

Particularly when the ‘Breaking News’ alert is a summary or round up of things that you’ve already seen much earlier in the day.

Indeed. I also don't think they should push opinion pieces or speculative 'what might happen' pieces; they are never news, breaking or otherwise.

The news is an industry these days with not enough news to fill the time allotted for programs, hence repetition, speculation and promoting “exclusives” which are in fact trailers for other “news” programs like Panorama.

Honestly one of the best things you can do for yourself is to switch off all these phone notifications particularly breaking news

Neighbour taking 3 days to trim his hedge with a noisy hedge trimmer, but insists on doing it with 4 second bursts every 20-30 seconds. Rather than just trim the bl**dy thing in one go. Or get a quiet trimmer.
(may have to go for a run)
