Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Have probably giving a fair bit to charity over the last year or so. The odd donation if someone is doing a race etc. I hardly ever get a word of thanks from any of them.

Maybe its just me but I certainly be replying with a message of thanks. This boils my piss.

Jock, I did a thing last year where I'd stick a £10 on a random runners fundraising page. Out of 10 people, only one person thanked me.

I did struggle a little when I was fundraising and people didn't share their name and their email address was wrong and my emails bounced back. That was only a couple of people.

This winds me up too. Of course I don’t do it for the thanks, but I’m always very conscious to thank people so it irks me when others don’t

Gym lockers which are barely 12 inches wide, meaning I have to literally stuff my bag in, scraping the piping on the edges because my bag full of gym gear is too wide.

Public transport having their heaters on full blast when it's really cold outside. Means it's stiflingly hot in a compressed space when you're wrapped up in layers for the cold outside and there's no space to take off your coat.

Walking behind and downwind of smokers.

Waiting 4 days for a response from EE's complaints team only for them to send me a one sentence reply amounting to "what you were told in the shop was wrong.". Helpful.

Drivers who don't bother to indicate because there are no other cars around - despite the fact there may be a plethora of pedestrians who would be mighty interested to know which way they're intending to turn.

That last is one that really bugs me. Trying to cross the road near a roundabout, no idea - not a clue - whether a driver not indicating means they are going straight on, or they're going to turn left and it's not safe for you to cross, or they're turning right but see no reason to let you know so that you can cross safely.
On my lunchtime run today, at one of the roundabouts, two cars were on it and they both signalled, and that was really remarkably unusual.

Jock - I completely agree with you. My way of dealing with it is to leave a completely random amount of money (never ever a round number) totally anonymously so I can feel confident that they WOULD have said thanks if I had made it possible. :D

Have we had: people sitting in their cars with their engines running and their windows open? On insanely hot days you might have to run the engine if you are going to die without aircon. (Personally I'd get out of the car and sit in the shade somewhere) On insanely cold days you might die without heating, so maybe the engine has to run. (I'd go in the shop/house/whatever) OK, if you are doing a bank job and you are the getaway driver. But sitting in the car park while the other half is in the supermarket, and being too lazy to turn the engine off? This boils my gears.

Isn't that also contrary to the Highway Code?

And the law, I believe. A level-crossing I am far too familiar with has signs warning of fines if engines running. Very very few drivers heed it.
