Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Cheers for the comments on the charity thing. Id always say thank you. Even the people I'd expect to say thanks don't.

manners cost nothing Jock, it really isn't difficult. I always send a personal message to say thank you and if the donation is shared on FB always a thanks there too.

That I can no longer look at information about my energy consumption on the British Gas website because I don't have a smart meter.

People parking on the pavement. Interaction today with a builder’s truck driver as I was forced to run out into the road;
Me: You’re completely blocking the pavement!
Him: Where am I supposed to park, mate?
Me: On the road!!!!

It just hadn’t occurred to him that partially blocking the road was better than completely blocking the footpath 😡

This hasn't occurred for a little while, so I've been storing it up so not having a go at anybody specifically. However this *will* happen again. It is this:

When someone asks on this site, 'Is there a parkrun near [town]?' and is then given the supposedly helpful advice: 'Hey, why not set up your own parkrun?'

Also works for 'Is there a 5M race/Is there a Half marathon/Is there an Ultra?'

[*Wonders* "Is there an ultra that starts and finishes at my front door?"]

(Answer: Yes, an infinite number)

Indeed. Though I'm not sure exactly which aspect would be the gear grinder (for me, anyway), the asking of whether there is a parkrun near wherever (surely parkrun events page will have the answer) or that 'make your own' isn't very helpful obviously.
