It just hadn’t occurred to him that partially blocking the road was better than completely blocking the footpath 😡

However this will happen again. It is this: When someone asks on this site, 'Is there a parkrun near [town]?' and is then given the supposedly helpful advice: 'Hey, why not set up your own parkrun?' Also works for 'Is there a 5M race/Is there a Half marathon/Is there an Ultra?'

Though I'm not sure exactly which aspect would be the gear grinder (for me, anyway), the asking of whether there is a parkrun near wherever (surely parkrun events page will have the answer) or that 'make your own' isn't very helpful obviously.
