Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What or who do you hate but everybody else seems to love??

alpenrose, funny but my biggest complaint with hotels is that they never seem to have more than one pillow per person! Sometimes lots of cushions on the bed (how many people use cushions for sleeping?!?) but rarely enough pillows

The whole special language " Ultra " runners speak , viz ," recce " , "crewing " and , of course , the compulsory " awesome " at every opportunity. Actually, just " Ultra" runners , generally .

Zorba - you missed "power hike". That is a particular favourite - for people who don't like to use "walking" to describe the action that most observers would describe as such.

Everywhere, OS. I mean, it's not as if I ever stay in large hotel rooms with tons of places to look :-)

Premier Inns are normally ok, foreign hotels/apartments are worse, I've found.

Last two trips to that there Abroad both resulted in having to put cushions from the sofa under our pillow.

I was warned about the very thin pillows in German hotels prior to going on a course in Donauwörth and so bought a “flat pack” IKEA pillow which fitted easily in my case. On removing the wrapping it grew to normal size and firmness.
I passed it onto a work colleague who was arrived for a subsequent course. For all I know it may still be doing the rounds used by Brits who like a decent pillow.

I don't like a high pillow. If there are two on a bed I always remove one.
