Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Nervously attempted parkrun with George today. He's done a couple of parkruns, but walking with my wife. He's not done much running at all really.

Took him to parkrun in Inverurie, as it's nice wide paths and not too busy.

He was brilliant! Trotted along by my side the whole time. He was shattered by the end of it.

So chuffed with him!

Well done George. A paw-fect result. I hope he does many more.

Our not-so brief update.

We spent a couple of days last weekend camping with Sproglet (Jet's favourite person) and the two youngest grandchildren. Jet was awake for the whole of Saturday, walked three miles across fields, and was constantly approaching the children for attention and cuddles. By 6pm he was more tired than I've ever seen him. I found him, on his own, standing with his head in the corner of the campervan, growling, and he didn't appear to know who I was for a few minutes, then became very clingy. He was shivering during the night and I wondered if this was our last trip with him. I noticed his breath smelled again, which is a sign of infection (related to the kidney disease).

We came home on Sunday and Jet slept for Britain! By Monday afternoon he had recovered back to normal, and yesterday, at our vet visit, we discovered that his bloods have improved a little. (We had changed his diet after the last phone call). We now have yet another prescription and will keep monitoring. He's also back on the antibiotics, which should reduce any brain fog over and above his normal cognitive issues. And on Wednesday Sprog plus one child popped in and Jet, feeling much better after a couple of days on antibiotics, boinged and bounced all over them. Every time I wonder whether we're on the final down-slope he bounces back. Such a contrast!

Good news about Jet and well done George.

Belle was unimpressed by my stint as parkrun RD. She got to help out with course setup then was banished to the car until the bulk of people had departed and her barking habit wouldn't be triggered.

She was not great company at our outdoor post run cafe venue though, barking at nothing in particular. She needs 5k to wear her out.

Glad Jet isn’t ready to go yet, H x
Well done George! Hope he does many more with you, RR.
My Mum’s terrier, who is also a George, did all my training with me for my last half marathon and his longest run was 11 miles. He seemed to love it.

Great to hear Jet has a few more sproings in him yet, and well done George.

All Bel has achieved lately is amassing this collection of cushions. She's sure she could find space for a few more yet, though.

Good news about Jet's recent days, gentle hugs for Bel and that's a gorgeous photo Cackleberry!

Floss has been a bit out of sorts since we got her back from the home boarder. OH forgot to pack her Metacam and Yumove tablets (he had one job 😠). Luckily Jenny had some Metacam left over from her old Lab's time, but no Yumove. I don't know if it was the change of routine, the lack of Yumove ( she usually has three a day), or something more deep-seated, but she's not been very interested in her breakfast or dinner, though she's normal enough on our walks.

What has concerned me most though was that she asked to go out in the garden yesterday, not at all unusual, but when she hadn't come back in after quite a while I found her lying on the grass in the dark, and seemed reluctant to come back in. That brought back memories of our Daisy's last few months :-(
There's nothing really specific I can ask the vet to check out but if she doesn't pick up soon I think I'll ask them to check her bloods.
