Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I would not like to go more than 100 or so metres

39th at the Hampshire league today which was a solid run from a man with a sore chest (cold)

I did run a 17.33 5km this morning as well

I did the Gwent League meeting at Blaise Castle, Bristol today, smiled to myself as my X-Talons were safe as houses going downhill on the rocky bits whilst the clatter of spikes around me were most uneasy.

They would not have worked on the course we ran on today.

Except on the 100 metres downhill path bit BUT that had mud down the side. :¬)

Gobi, understood but I played competitive football for 18 years and on occasions the pitches resembled a ploughed field and football boots seemed to do the job (athough admittedly I didn't try anything else as the rules don't permit), to my way of thinking X-Talons are like a very lightweight football boot with very soft moulded studs.

Island, I see some people wearing XC spikes on the track, but not so much the other way round. XC spikes are normally made of porous material so water doesn't get trapped. They're also designed to house more spikes than track spikes (which you often need during XC).

You should be able to pick up a cheap pair of XC spikes at this point in the season.

I'm doing our worst XC race of the season tomorrow where even 15mm spikes won't cut it. I'm thinking of putting 15 inch nails into my Mizunos...

Saint - sounds like your league race was more of a rock race...X-Talons wouldn't work at all on most of the courses round here. One of our friends actually stopped wearing his football boots for XC racing after trying unsuccessfully to run XC with them...!
