Burton Dassett is a great tough course. Warley Woods for D1. Went out faster this time after circumspect starts in the first two so was working from the gun. Good to get back to that and hopefully can make another step at the next one. |

Hope you enjoyed Burton Dassett, Gobi! Our club were the hosts and so whilst I didn't run it myself this year, I spent 8 hours there yesterday on my feet starting at 8.30am when we arrived to mark out the course. It's a tough one and in the interests of my dodgy knee, I opted to support our chief marshal this year rather than running myself. It was a great albeit tiring day and I think / hope everything went well. Feedback seemed positive. Luckily the fog seemed to lift just in time for the start of the ladies race. It wasn't that bad early on but rolled in mid morning and when we revisited parts of the course we'd marked out, we then couldn't see between marshal points / taped or signed sections - so had some concerns about people knowing which way to go due to the visibility. Luckily all worked out in the end!

Clare - my sort of course. Enjoyed it although the off camber was a little awkward:-)

I should be running XC today, but will be supporting instead. For reasons I can't explain, although I love off-road running (and do 90% of my running off-road), the thought of racing now makes me feel ill and panicky! Maybe it's an age thing and I'm struggling to accept that everything's so much harder now? Or maybe I just have to accept that after 14+ years of racing my XC days are over? I don't know? Anyone else had this happen to them?

Took 8 years off racing cross country for various reasons. I'm over 50 now and the hardest thing has been accepting I'm not at the sharp end. Yesterday I raced for Welsh Masters. 12th overall and 1st Vet 50. Adjusting my mindset has made me realise I love racing cross country instagram.com |

Evening all LAST round of Brum League division 2 today and my best performance with 3rd scorer and maybe top 50. Very slow, muddy, boggy , slippy and cold but that definitely slows some of the lighter kids down. No age cats in this so just doing it for the team. Got home and washed my spikes ![]() |

In contrast to Gobi's exploits I was last man again on Sunday - 75/75, (90/90 three weeks before). Good news is, the XC coupled with my first track session since June last Wednesday, my parkrun times are feeling the benefit and are coming back down sharply. Just wish I wouldn't start off so fast.
