GCSE "assessments" began today. DS2 has done v little in the way of revision, but will no doubt wing his way through them. First 2 went ok, so sets him up well for the next 4 weeks. Not really bothered how he does as they've had such a tough year. He just needs to get enough to be able to do the A-levels he wants. Everything else is basically irrelevant now.

Meanwhile DD2 has the first of 4 "assessments" for the 2 A-levels she is "resitting" tomorrow. She'll be fine as she did very well in her mocks and will justify the effort she has put in since deciding not to go to Uni last Sept and "redo" the two. Hopefully Bristol this Sept to do Engineering and an at least partly normal freshers year.

youngest is applying for apprenticeships, but there aren't many to chose from.
He has no notion of going to uni - even one he could stay at home and attend. The experiences of current students hasn't done anything to encourage him'

Anyone want an electronic engineer apprentice?

D15 has the last of her GCSE assessments next week and leaves school on the 28th May. Pretty confident she’ll get what she needs but some of her peripheral subjects are going to suffer. She’s so checked out of the whole process... can’t blame her really.

My ds (also gcse year) is the same, kaysdee. As are we. Such a strange year for them all. They just need a passport to the next stage.

My eldest is also talking about apprenticeships RH but has done nothing and has no plans for when college finishes in a month. I guess he'll get there.

Rosehip, I have a son graduating from electronic engineering....not a lot graduate schemes either, but if anyone wants an apprentice plus graduate?

in other news, the unlocking means DS2 having his unplanned gap year is finally going away, for 4 days in the lake district.
