Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hiya - I've just noticed this thread and it's ideal for me as I've only once managed under 19 (pb is 18.42 set at Strathclyde parkrun last year). I've had several near misses since.

Congrats on your pb Zorba.

I just seem to have no speed for shorter races. I tend to set off at 5.55 pace or so but like you Zorba, I think I lose in the 4th K. That's a twisty K at Strathclyde too as you're coming through the trees on a tiny incline then turning and avoiding all those potholes on the bike-half of the path, usually in my experience into the wind too.

Hi clairevmc ,that's a great time you posted.....I'm sure you can do it again.....I agree that Strathclyde is trickier than you may think , esp the long finishing straight where you can easily switch off....Still, I plan on attempting it again on Sat......Even a bad race is good training for the next one !

Alright folks, well annoyed, set off far too slow for some reason, was nowhere near warmed up when I got going, 1st mile, 7:20 oh dear. Sorted my life out and did the remaining two miles at 5:23 and 5:23, well angry, if I'd been warmed up I'd have been sub 18, never mind. Got 18:50, try again next week. Not going to complain too much, still a 50 second PB and theres always next week too. Just waiting for official results. 70% WAVA beckons. :)

I think I will be joining this thread, now that marathon running is on hiatus. New 5k track series starting in Cornwall next year with divisions for all abilities. Sounds perfect! My 19.30 was on a hilly route too, so I know there's more to come.
