Don't know if there is an existing thread on this subject ....I am very close but badly need a bit of inspiration from others !

I ran 18:43, 18:51 and 18:55 at Edinburgh Parkrun, which was then found to be 80-10m short and was re-measured so my PB was scrapped.....on the full course I have clocked 19:00 dead

My god ,you're close Bazo ......I know from bitter experience that Silverknowes can be windy....I am making an all out effor to accomplish the deed at Strathclyde this week .....Go out fast and then ramp up the effort at 3k ,I hope !

I knew I was close mate, the return half was into the wind and I was hanging in there as best as I could !

I am planning a winter of HR training so dont think I will have another attempt until maybe March next tear....pacing is key and not going out to hard as that domes back to haunt you. Having someone just a bit quicker than you also helps to pull you along

If you're prepared to travel westwards ,I can recommend the Clydebank 5K in March .......Several of the all time Scottish ranking times were set there in 2002 .......Of course there is also the actual Scottish championships at windy Silverknowes in May

I agree that pacing is crucial ,but the flipside of the coin ,I find , is that time lost with a sluggish first K can rarely be recovered !
